A therapeutic home

Therapy is reflected in everyday care

Our model is not limited to formal sessions. It is expressed through the way staff respond to distress, repair relationships, create predictable routines and help young people make sense of their experiences.

Staff use curiosity rather than judgement and recognise that behaviour can communicate fear, unmet need or previous trauma.

Frameworks that inform our practice

Evidence-based approaches used flexibly

We draw from several recognised approaches, selecting what is most appropriate for the young person and their circumstances.

PACE

Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy help staff build safety and connection.

Dyadic Developmental Practice

Supports trust, attachment and emotional understanding through attuned relationships.

Cognitive Behavioural Approaches

Helps young people notice links between thoughts, feelings and behaviour.

Person-Centred Support

Places the young person’s voice, pace and goals at the centre of planning.

Non-Violent Resistance

Promotes calm, connected responses to high-risk or challenging situations.

Life Story Work

Supports identity, continuity and understanding of important life experiences.

“Connection comes before correction.”

Young people are more able to learn, reflect and take responsibility when they first feel safe, respected and understood.

Reflective practice

Supporting the adults who support young people

Staff need space to think, learn and remain emotionally regulated. Reflective discussions, supervision and training help our team respond thoughtfully rather than reactively.
